OH NO MONROE, BRAD ALLEN’S ROUGAROU WILL BE A PILE OF POO It should be well known that a piece of poo dipped in chocolate is not a candy bar

When the North American 3 Hockey League announced on April 3rd that the suspended membership of the Mid-Cities Stars was being resurrected as a new team in Monroe (LA), I really thought it was a late April Fool’s joke.
While the new Federal Prospects Hockey League Monroe Moccasins are stuffing the Civic Center with an entertaining brand of hockey, 99% of all the coaches in the NA3HL will tell you that that the Rougarou will be little more than a mockery of hockey.
Were we supposed to forget that Stars’ General Manager / Assistant Coach Tristan Allen who, according to numerous players on that team, was selling weed vapes to players? Well, weed vapes and other things, like team captaincy, ice time, starts between the pipes, and God only knows what else.
It’s not like North American Hockey League commissioner Mark Frankenfeld was unaware of what was happening with the team. Numerous parents, former employees, and even arena staff were speaking up in every way possible. The truth is, it was the NA3HL, and Frankenfeld proved that he could not care less.
The biggest problem with all of this is that the leagues are mandatory reporters when it comes to SafeSport violations. The allegations of drug sales and use should have been reported to law enforcement. It's not clear if that ever happened.

Clearly there were plenty of players under the age of 18 on the Stars’ roster, yet Tristan Allen’s name does not come as ineligible on the SafeSport database. The number of SafeSport violations could have easily escalated into triple digits.
Owner Brad Allen loves his kid (that would be Tristan) and wants to do whatever he can to help the son succeed. I’m a dad that has been forced to deal with my own children, so I get it. But there is a huge difference between helping a child and enabling them.
Here’s a note to the good people of Monroe. Please don’t judge the game of hockey on the behavior of the owner's son and this Rougarou team. If things get half as bad as they were in Dallas, it may be handy to have local law enforcement on speed dial. Well, law enforcement, the DEA, and maybe even ATF. This Allen kid thinks he is above the law.
And just for the record, because we would not want any players to think they were not warned.
**Marijuana use by youth under age 21 is illegal in Louisiana and every state, unless it has been recommended by a medical provider and the appropriate certification has been obtained**
Now here’s where things could get really fun. Heck, Brad Allen may even try to say I am interfering with his ability to conduct business. I’ll take that chance.
Top Ten Reasons to NOT Play for the Bayou State Rougarou
*Owner Brad Allen has a track record of operating one of the worst teams in NA3HL history.
*There are 100+ pay-to-play teams across the United States that present a much better developmental opportunity than whatever the Rougarou can offer.
*When the Monroe Civic Center is being utilized for non-ice events, the team must practice out of town, or not at all.
*It is roughly 180 miles from Monroe to the nearest practice rink in Lafayette.
*The in-state rival Louisiana Drillers are the defending Fraser Cup Champions. There's a better chance of the Moccasins winning the Stanley Cup than Allen's team beating the Drillers.
*The 2023-24 Stars rostered six different goalies and thirty-one skaters.
*The Stars’ bus was an absolute disaster. Aside from being poorly maintained, coaches said they were afraid of having to go on road trips and were very thankful whenever the team had to rent a real bus.
*The owner micro-manages the head coaches to a point where they can’t do the job. One coach quit in the middle of a Sunday afternoon game because of Tristian's behavior. Another coach was screamed at by the owner after the coach asked the son to do his job. A volunteer assistant coach (and former team captain) asked for $100 a week for gas money because he had to drive across town, and it was refused by the Allens.
*USA Hockey has yet to approve the relocation of the suspended 3HL membership from the Dallas area to Louisiana. We are hoping that approval is questioned at the Summer meetings in June.
*While other teams across the continent are already tendering and identifying players for next season, the Rougarou has yet to even secure a coach.
The NA3HL Draft is set for April 30th. For those players who happen to suffer the misfortune of being drafted by the Rougarou, there are plenty of other options to consider. Please feel free to contact me directly for help. You do not have to play for this team.
There are plenty of players, coaches, and staff that have endured time within the Allen's junior hockey enterprise and could share their experiences. Their names are very easy to find on the EliteProspects website. I'm also certain that there will be plenty of comments in our group.
Friends don’t let friends get screwed by Brad and Tristan Allen.
