When it comes to keeping junior hockey operators honest over the last fifteen years or so, there’s not an entity on the planet that has been more dedicated to that cause than me. While USA Hockey and leagues elected to lock the now secret tier standards within their private affiliation agreements, we wanted to do something that offered reassurance that select operators will deliver on written promises. Players, and their families deserve nothing less.
As the new 2024-25 season begins, the stories coming out from players and families already are simply shocking. Apparently $1,000 or more a month for rent, and not food or any transportation, is all the rage along the east coast from Maine to Florida.
We have to do something. So, we are.
In the next few weeks, you are going to see our content begin moving from HeisHockey.com to JuniorHockey.io . This move brings us full circle back to the partnership I had with Texas based Kosmin Media that began fifteen years ago. While Kosmin continues acquisition talks with JuniorHockey.com (and .ca), JuniorHockey.io will launch with the inclusion of new development and content partners.
Kosmin Media staffers will begin contacting junior hockey clubs with the proven ability to operate within the standards expected for their level of play. Partnering with us allows those clubs to share their content on our site and within the private Facebook group while committing to the maintenance of tier hockey operational standards. These partnerships also give hockey families the peace of mind knowing that the clubs are a safe and secure option to consider for their young hockey prospects.
Aside from hockey clubs, the idea is to also target select camp events along with products and services aimed at the hockey community.
Another key change is the plan for us to be on the road for roughly ten nights every month. We will be recording Junior Hockey Morning Shows to showcase partner clubs across the continent and feel this is a key element to our success while delivering a great opportunity to meet and visit even more of you.
We are also seeking additional featured content contributors that would like to take their love of the game to a new level.
One of the key areas of coverage we are looking for is the United States Hockey League. It would be great to have one writer covering the Eastern Conference and another for the Western.
Independent writers to cover all the Canadian leagues would also be a plus. This could include weekly segments as part of the Junior Hockey Morning Show.
It is time for a change, a change that helps hockey families make informed decisions for their prospects, a change that protects coaches from questionable operators, and most of all, a change that drives more junior team operators into delivering on the promises of development.
Now, who’s in?
